Short description
Near the coast of the Mexican island of Cozumel is the second largest coral reef in the world, about the richest underwater world of which Jacques-Yves Cousteau shot more than one documentary film. On this small island (48 by 16 km) you can swim in unique karst caves filled with the purest water.

The Yucatan Peninsula, overgrown with rainforest, has become the vault for 4,000 underground caves, connected by underground streams. Popular tourist attractions include rope descent into the caves and boat trips among the mangroves that flank the Riviera Maya lagoons. The Acapulco resort is known all over the world for its incendiary nightlife and the 34 meters high La Quebrada crevice, from which divers make breathtaking jumps.
The resort city of Cancun is famous for its proximity to the monuments of the ancient Maya, underwater national parks and reserves. In the ecopark Xkarete, teeming with tropical fauna, you can swim along an underground river, play with dolphins, visit the butterfly pavilion, and in the lagoons near the town of Rio Lagartos, you can admire flocks of pink flamingos. In the deserts in the north and north-west of Mexico, giant cacti grow taller than human growth: saguaro plants reach up to 13.8 m in height and 3.1 m in girth.

Pre-Columbian heritage of Mexico
In Mexico - the homeland of tequila - excursions are organized to one of the main factories producing this drink - the estate "Casa Herradura", whose tradition goes back 150 years. The history of tequila itself began much earlier - the Aztecs made mezcal from blue agave long before the arrival of the Spaniards in 1521. The ruins of the abandoned cities of the Maya and Aztecs are still an impressive sight today. So, the Great Pyramid in Cholula in volume surpasses even the Great Pyramid on the Giza plateau in Egypt. The pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, as well as the temple of Quetzalcoatl ("Feathered Serpent"), the main deity of the Aztec pantheon, have been preserved in Teotihuacan. The ruins of Palenque - Mayan settlements - are buried in the green sea of the surrounding jungle, and bright parrots sit right on the steps of the ancient sanctuaries. The city of Chichen Itza won the reputation of "the most sinister Mayan sanctuary": at the bottom of a karst well, where according to legend lived the rain god Chak, the Indians threw the most beautiful girls, and at the top of the main temple they made bloody sacrifices, tearing out a living heart from a man's chest.
